The hip-hop group Dilated Peoples from Los Angeles, consisting of rappers Evidence and Rakaa Iriscience, along with DJ Babu, a member of the famous DJ crew Beat Junkies, is heading back to the Czech Republic after 11 years!

 

The group emerged from the freestyle battles and open mic sessions in Los Angeles, where Evidence and Rakaa gradually established themselves as strong MCs. After the arrival of DJ Babu, their sound acquired a characteristic form, based on the classic boom bap style, but at the same time it has a modern feel. The breakthrough came with the debut album The Platform (2000), which is still one of the most appreciated recordings of underground hip hop. They followed it with the albums Expansion Team (2001) and Neighborhood Watch (2004), with the latter opening the door to a wider audience for them. The single "This Way", on which Kanye West collaborated and which showed that loyalty to underground roots can also work in the mainstream.

 

DIlated Peoples collaborated with a number of major names in the hip hop scene, such as The Alchemist, DJ Premier, Guru, Talib Kweli and B-Real, connecting different streams of American rap across regions and styles. After a short hiatus, they returned with the album Directors of Photography (2014), which confirmed their maturity and ability to remain relevant without having to change their own identity.

 

The group Dilated Peoples is also considered one of the key representatives of the independent hip hop scene on the West Coast of the USA and represents a symbol of "true hip hop" and its values for fans.
